We are looking for patient, well-spoken, educated individuals to help children improve their math skills. Previous teaching/tutoring experience is required. We provide a structured math program for students who need remediation, reinforcement and those who want to exceed grade-level expectations. Our focus is on helping our students become successful and confident in math!

APA is recruiting individuals who can teach APA prescribed programs in math. Teaching hours are Monday to Friday (3-8 pm).

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for implementing a prescribed educational program in a safe and fun manner individually and possibly in a small group setting under the supervision of the Director

Knowledge of the Alberta Math curriculum

Able to communicate clearly and effectively

Access to reliable transportation

Able to pass a criminal background check

The successful candidate must work cooperatively and effectively with other staff in the provision of educational services to students and their families.

A current police screening must be provided for successful applicants.

Qualifications:

A student/graduate/retired in Post-secondary training in Education, Math and related fields

Excellent communication skills-verbal and written

A genuine interest and joy in helping individuals achieve their potential.

Be competent in working with small groups

Ability to take direction well and work under limited supervision.

Ability to get along with other people.

Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.

Excellent organizational skills

Demonstrated mental math capabilities and computer experience, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel
